Use the app and the site freely, for yourself and your dogs. Link to any event page you like. What is not permitted is copying the event database wholesale to rebuild it somewhere else — the individual events are public announcements, but the compiled, deduplicated, geocoded and monitored collection of them is our work and is protected as a database in its own right.
The app and this website are provided free of charge for personal use: finding competitions, saving the ones you care about, setting reminders, and keeping your own record of how your dogs did. No account is required to browse.
Share event links wherever you want. Every /event/<id> page is meant to be shared, and quoting an event's date, place and name so someone can find it is exactly what we built this for.
Events are gathered from organizers' own public listings — club websites, federation calendars, registration platforms. We do not own the underlying facts, and we do not claim to. A competition's date and venue are the organizer's announcement, not ours.
What we do own is the work of turning several dozen scattered, inconsistent sources into one coherent collection: selecting and monitoring which sources are worth following, extracting each event, deduplicating records that appear in more than one place, resolving venues to precise coordinates, translating listings, normalising disciplines and fees, and re-checking pages so a moved or cancelled event gets corrected.
Wherever we can, each event links back to its original source so credit lands where it belongs.
That collection is a database within the meaning of Directive 96/9/EC on the legal protection of databases, and we assert the sui generis database right in it. Substantial investment goes into obtaining, verifying and presenting its contents, which is what the right protects — independently of whether any individual record is separately protected, and independently of the fact that the underlying announcements are public.
Accordingly, the following are not permitted without written permission:
Normal human use is never the target of any of this, and neither is a search engine indexing our pages.
Ask. A conversation is cheaper for everyone than a scraper followed by a takedown notice, and if you tell us what you are building we can usually find a way to help — researchers, federations and clubs especially.
If you are an organizer and want your events listed, corrected, or removed, that is even easier — just tell us.
Event details are compiled automatically from third-party sources and can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Always confirm dates, deadlines, fees and location with the organizer before travelling or paying. K9Events is not liable for a trip taken on the strength of a listing that turned out to be inaccurate, and it is not the organizer of any event listed.
If you spot something wrong, the report button in the app is the fastest way to get it fixed.
If these terms change materially, the updated version is published at this URL with a revised date at the top.
Data requests, permission questions, corrections, or anything else — reach us any time.
